I would create a controlled swell generator in the middle of the pacific ocean. I would be able to send swells in any direction at any shape and period. The device would be a fairly large machine, about the size of an oil rig, that sends out very strong nuclear shock waves which generate long period swell. I would send the swells wherever and whenever i wanted. This would be the ultimate conquering of nature. I came up with the idea because swells are so fickle and to have a controllable on demand supply of them would be insane!!!

I would create the ability to breathe under water and talk to sea animals. I could stay under water for as long as I wanted, an hour, a month, I could live under the ocean. I would accomplish this by having gills when I needed them, but they would go away on land. Breathing under water would be great, I could swim as long as I desired, I wouldn't have to worry about getting held under or pounded, and I could escape the noisy and chaotic life of land from time to time. Talking to the sea animals would be pretty cool too. I could be up at my house and hear what the turtles down at Ho'okipa were saying about the waves and wind. The sea critters could also show me around under water and if need be take out an angry surfer in the line up. I would develope the ability to speak to any sea animal I wished, I could speak hermit crab, whale, tako, eel. I have always been drawn to the ocean and these abilities would further connect me and expose me to the many mysteries of the sea.

Forrest,
at first I liked the idea of an un-limited supply of swells. But I think that a large part of the lure of surfing (or skimming too I guess?)is the journey for that perfect wave, the thrill of a session that was like no other. While a wave machine would be pretty cool at first, I think it might eventually take away the rare magic of that perfect day where the wind, swell, and tide was just right. But then again, endless waves would be nice!

An impossible technique or ability that I would like to create would be that everyone in the world would have enough food to eat. So many people in the world are malnourished and starving and do not have the resources to change their situation. It’s devastating that children are dying because of this problem. I would do this by ensuring that everyone in the world would have the knowledge and resources to at least be able to farm and produce their own food. This way, people would be able to rely on themselves instead of others and they would be able to pass on this knowledge to future generations. This would end many people’s suffering and would help better everyone in the world.
Rachael and Forrest, I like how both of your ideas revolve around water. They’re both cool ideas and would be awesome if either one were possible.

I’ve done it. It only took me seven days. After a year of trying to create an atmosphere similar to outer space, I expected the rest of my creation to take much longer. The size of a small playground ball, my creation sits in a tank in my laboratory.
Before I tell you what the specifics of my creation, I would like to defend myself. I do not have a God complex. I do not wish to rule the world, to conquer it, or do anything in which I may gain power over the lives in which we live. I am simply curious and wanted to know if it was possible – if what the bible says is true.
I created a world; a world with an atmosphere, water, earth, and life. When I started, I just wanted to create a similar atmosphere to ours. But as I got more involved, I only became more obsessed. When my original creation was done, I let it sit, but it only called my attention more frequently. I noticed that it seemed to have elements that could support life. And soon, I found myself sleeping less, and suddenly, it was complete.
Seven days had passed, I hardly remembered starting. I immediately turned away, shocked with what I created. This world was completely self-evolving! It adjusted by the light of our world, so only needed to be placed in a well-lighted window. Other than that, its evolution was out of my hands. I had created a civilization!
I left my lab in a hurry, but returned the next day to watch. I was captivated by its movement. Everything flowed so well, it supported itself effortlessly. I found my self re-reading the bible. I tried to administer the same strict rules, but I knew that wouldn’t work out. So I limited my views, deciding to let it choose its own path. Even with random rules and viewing sessions, history still repeats itself. Everything happens for a reason, I suppose.
My world is decaying; the water rising, the earth sinking, turning brown and desolate. I do not know how to save it. I tried to remember the steps in which I created it, but going over it or repeating it has done nothing. I fear that this world will die forever. By watching its demise, I fear that this will only happen to us. If I could save my tiny planet, maybe I could find a way to save this one. I will have to study my notes some more, I can only hope there is enough time.

Rachael, youre idea is amazing! I have always wished that I could stay under the water for as long as I wanted! Your idea about gills reminds me of the fourth Harry Potter book, where he eats the gilliweed in order to complete one of the Triwizard tournament tasks. I think also the lure to being able to stay under the water comes from my love of swimming. Could you imagine how intense races would be if people were able to do that? Actually, I wonder if it would be the reverse?
I like your idea of being able to distantly talk to "sea criters". Very Justice League..or just convenient. :)

I would invent a machine that was so sensitive and precise that by simply measuring the exact position and precise condition of every particle at every angle in a small space, the invention could then calculate the position and condition of everything else on the planet. It would be based on the assumption that the world is presumably a chain reaction of cause and effect. Therefore the particles' position in the measured area could only be in that position and state if the particles that make up the rest of the universe were at a certain and precise location and condition. Meaning that my invention could take a calculated picture of the world, an exact picture based on one small unit of volume. Almost a frozen time frame where I can see everything exactly as it is at that instant in time. Take it even further. Maybe if the invention takes into account entropy, then this picture would be more like a film. It would measure the decay of the particles that can only be caused by past disruptions. This aspect would also be based on cause and effect principles, thereby calculating all events. Basically this would be a machine that could view the past, future, and present at any point in time and anywhere. I could see events before they even happened, answer historical questions, solve the hidden mysteries of the earth, solve crimes, and I would never have anymore "you just missed it" moments.

Sararose, your's is pretty cool, its kind of like a "what if" dialogue of a confused man who has been tasked with G-d's responsibilities. I also see the parallel to man's globalization as a failing attempt to create the world. Only, G-d did a better job.

Speaking to underwater animals would be pretty cool too. Being able to breathe underwater would also be a delightfully convenient characteristic.

Unknown said...

Katie: How unselfish of you to think of that idea. However, perhaps limited food supply keeps the world population in check. If we had more and more people the world would be quickly damaged.

Unknown said...

Nathan: I have seen that in a movie. I am not quite sure what it was called but the investigators looked at their film of the world to find answers, although the film was gone after 48 hours no matter what.

I would create a stop watch that could stop and rewind time. This would be time traveling based on Albert Einstein’s idea that time bends. As stated by the observer: “Einstein was right: space and time bend. Ninety years after he expounded his famous theory, a $700m Nasa probe has proved that the universe behaves as he said. Now the race is on to show that the other half of relativity also works.” My understanding of this theory led to the development of this technology. There have been many moments in my life when I have wished that I could stop time and take a nap and then continue on with my life. This technology allows for this to take place. And people will be able to travel back in time to change occurrences or stop time in order to prepare for something awaiting them.

I have invented a spray that will heal any wound for a temporary period of time. Everyone has one since the spray bottle comes in any size. You can put it in your purse, your beach bag; the glove compartment of your car...anywhere that you feel is a handy place to reach it if you get hurt. This invention would be so useful. When you are out surfing and you cut your foot on the reef, you wouldn't have to worry about wrapping it up and possibly heading to the hospital. You could easily just grab your spray and spray it on your wound. It would instantly heal the wound so that you wouldn’t have to go to the hospital right away. People in potentially fatal car accidents would have the spray to heal up their wounds if the ambulance does not get there fast enough. Since everyone has one, people who pull over to help the victims of the car accident could help the people who are injured without having to touch them. The spray would be a life saver in two ways. It could save someone from potential death by healing their wounds temporarily until they can get proper medical care, or simply just save someone from having to ruin their day or evening by having to rush to the hospital. Just use your nifty spray and your day or life will be saved!

Rachael—Your idea is amazing! I would love to be able to breathe underwater and talk to the sea creatures. That would be the craziest experience ever!

Sararose—I am so excited about your invention. It’s a little scary to think about; what if the small civilization you created grows until it is able to take over our world?! Ignoring that, I think it would be so incredible to watch it evolve and see the different stages of life.

It’s one of those days where everything is going wrong: your wife left you, the dog left presents all over the house, the milk is sour, you ran over the neighbors cat fluffy (who isn’t so fluffy anymore), accidentally robbed a bank, spilt coffee on Mr. Stone’s computer and may have been the sole catalyst to the extinction of the bald eagles. Some resort to violence, some resort to recreational alcoholism but with the CHIWL PILLtm you don’t have to tweak-out. When ingested the CHIWL PILLtm dissolves into your stomach instantly and somehow affects the chemical balance in your brain making you just a little bit more CHIWLtm. Have a boss who is anal retentive? Slip it in his coffee in the morning. The CHIWL PILLtm is there for the convenience of everybody. It’s an easy way to fight off stress from work and enable yourself to make it through those harsh days when life just bitterly smiles and says “I’m going to make your day horrible.” For teachers this would work best because it would rid your students of the so called senioritis that seems to plague all high-schools nowadays making them able to be just a little bit more CHIWLtm about the five page paper you just assigned the day before. The best part of the whole process is that there is no crash after you take it. Eventually it wares off but still gives you the impression of being super CHIWLtm. There are no side affects. No drowsiness, laziness, impaired judgment, absence of will, or loss of ambition just CHIWLtm-ness.

Sam- your idea of being able to stop time is brilliant. I often wonder what it would be like to have that ability and if so, what things in my life I would alter.

Rachael- Underwater communication and breathing apparatus without any tools or equipment would be awesome. The sea is so broad and filled with life there must be tons of things that we aren't even aware of! Really liked your post, sounds cool.

I would create the ability to fly. Not like an airplane or a jet pack, but like superman. Haven’t you ever wondered what adrenaline rush you would feel with the wind in your face souring high above the ground? Well, I would create the ability to do so. It would be a much more efficient way of transportation. It would cut back the amount of cars on the road and the pollution in the air. Gas would no longer be an issue because flying simply does not need anything but a healthy body. A newly discovered safe chemical would give you massive amounts of energy to fly without even losing breath. Flying would also be the start of new recreational sports and social activities to the communities. I think flying would be a useful and amazing ability to have and I think everyone could benefit from it.

Rachel- I love your idea of being able to breathe underwater. I definitely wish that it was something we could do. It would be amazing!

Natalie- I think your idea of a spray that could heal any wound would be so useful to a lot of people. When you become a doctor, you should try and make that happen. It would be really cool.

Samantha-
you stole my idea. But yes, stopping/rewinding time would be really fantastic.

The final adjustments have been made, and I am preparing to try my invention for the first time on a human. Teleportation was never considered a possibility, but one night as I was discarding the remnants of a cow's brain in a University of Chicago biology lab, I was struck by the idea. I had been pondering over a lecture from earlier that day about energy particles, and how all living beings are really just concentrations of energy bound together. My machine has the power to temporarily break the bonds, and transfer the energy particles wirelessly from one station to another. Since my epiphany, I have secluded myself to an abandoned lab in a hardly used building on campus for fear of being ridiculed. This is a huge undertaking; if successful, I will have proved something to myself, but I am hesitant about revealing my invention to anyone, even my closest companions. If this technology were to get into the wrong hands, it could mean disaster. But if I don't come forward, I won't get credit for the most significant scientific advancement known to man, and all of my work will have been for nothing. I suppose there's no point in speculating yet, before I know whether or not my machine works on humans. So now, journal, I'm signing off for what might be the very last time-the machine is powering up as I write this.

p.s. Samantha, I think the movie you're thinking of is Deja Vu, with Denzel Washington.

I would have the ability to assimilate into any and all surroundings. Like a chameleon, but on a much larger scale. I could turn into any animal, any human of any gender, talent or nationality. I would be able to speak any language and know all the intricacies of every culture, both human and inhuman. It would be based on a chemical in the brain that, when put under a certain stress, would immediately send out transmissions to adjust the body and mind to alleviate that stress. If I were surrounded by a pack of lions, I would become a lion. Disaster averted. If I wanted to fly I could just jump out of a plane without a parachute and become a bird or a fluttering leaf or feather. The brain function would also allow me to go into countries, like Iraq, and step directly into the shoes of an Iraqi woman. I would be able to understand the other side of every argument, and hopefully gain enough insight to fix them.

Rachael, I was going to pick that ability. Breathing underwater would be the COOLEST THING EVER!

Forrest, I really liked your idea until I read what Rachael said about it. I think she made a very good point. Limitless swells would be cool, but you might get bored. I thought I loved doritos, but then my dad bought a Costco pack and I'm completely sick of them.

I would create a machine with the ability to clone animate and inanimate objects. I wouldn't tell anyone about this though since this cloning machine could cause great havoc to our world. So now, if im running low on some dough, i just pop the dollar in and with the push of a button, i have another dollar. I would never run out of snacks at my house, and my dad wouldn't have to work as hard as he is now to provide food for a family of 5. Cloning animate objects is a little more tricky, and also risky. The problem with cloning animate objects is that they would only last for 24 hours before they would disappear. One of my main reasons for creating a cloning device for this purpose of cloning a human. I could clone myself and play one on one basketball with someone at my level. And the main reason, I would clone MICHAEL PALMER, because both Angelina and myself cannot have him. So by doing this, we are both able to be happy and cherish our Michael time.

Keana- I really like your idea of flying since I do often get car sick. When we have games at Hana, I could just fly there instead. And plus, this would save us a lot of gas money.

Sam- Stopping time would be the best thing for me. That way I would be able to train really hard for basketball, (not that I don't) and be apart of the rotation. And I would be able to turn in my homework on time...

Are you a loser? Do you have no life besides video games and repeating Albert Einstein's exact words? Do you have a low self-esteem because you can't get women? Most of all do YOU wish this would all turn around? Well I have created a distinct scent/cologne for men that women find irresistable. This cologne comprises of only the best aphrodisiacs this planet can offer ;) Women will flock to your very presence and instantly be hypnotized by the sheer beauty of your smell. This cologne will not only make you irresistable to women, but THEE hottest women in the surrounding area. However, beware, this will most likely cause drama between the frenzy of women as they fight to get to you. I created this because love makes the world go around and its genius. Watch out women.. Theres a new cool cat on the block.

Forrest: That would be Sooooooooo Sick! Perfect waves on demand would be a surfers dream. However, I kinda agree with Rachael, it probably wouldnt make the session as special. But nonetheless that would be epic.

Rachael: That would be the coolest possible ability to have. You could just hang out with sharks and tell them not too eat you.

I'm in the line up, the waves are pulsing and the crowd is agrow. I count the number of surfers that should and should not be at this particular, advanced break. This break is no place for beginners or even intermediate surfers. I stop counting after a dozen or so surfers, most of them are just dropping in on anything and anyone. There are those that are just ditching their rental boards into the break and then those that are just simply bewildered and just sitting in the in zone. And then I remember my secret weapon in my sunscreen. This particular sunscreen is hard to come by. Once applied their is a byproduct in the cream that emits thousands of tiny hydroid type jelly fish that have a nasty sting. These jelly fish seek out the unknowledgable surfer. It's a force where the body sends out little tiny jellyfish in the ocean and these stingers zap out and put a non harmful toxin into anyone that is surfing in a place where they shouldn't be. More importantly these stinger like creatures would attack all the turkeys ( surfers who don't know how to surf) and the sweepers (paddle boarders who catch all the waves). These hydroids would simply seek out and send in. In other wards, there would be some amount of pain but just enough to send these beginners into shore and back into their vehicles.

I would have created a ‘what if’ machine. What does it do? You ask any what if question and a scenario will show up. The machine is a TV with a microphone so that everyone else can watch it with you. The questions can be range from anything such as what if Reynald was Kobe Bryant or what if the moon was cheese? The possible number of questions are endless and my ‘what if’ machine can create a scenario for all of them. Why create such a machine? To relieve the boredom I get everyday.

Rachael, your ability is amazing. If i could have breathed underwater, i probably live in the ocean then on land. It would be a lot more exciting down in the ocean then on land. By the way, your ability vaguely reminds me of aquaman only without the whole superhuman strength.

Have you ever watched a movie or read a book and wished you could be a part of the action? Well now you can! YourWorld is a new virtual reality system that enables you to take part in your favorite story. Just place the neural activity sensing helmet on your head and be amazed as your body enters a state of relaxation while your mind begins the adventure of a lifetime! It will feel just like real life, but no harm will come to you or your mind. Choose from one of our thousands of pre-programmed stories, or create your own! YourWorld is also in use for many military training programs, or even that quick vacation getaway! A new feature is being developed in which recent memories can be downloaded and replayed anytime, anywhere! A little fuzzy on the details? Our system will automatically generate and fill in forgotten information. You can even edit the memories setting, characters, and plot. YourWorld is so perfect, you may never want to leave!

I came up with this idea because of all the times I’ve read a book or watched a movie and thought, “That would be awesome if I could be there/do that, except not die/be in mortal danger!” It’s supposed to be ironic and scary though. I know I would regret living in a virtual reality world.

Inanna - I loved your invention! That would be absolute freedom. I thought the best part of it was how you wanted to use it for practical uses and especially to gain understanding.

Nathan - Your invention is awesome. That's actually one of the things I like to think about when I'm being all philosophical. It seems like an amazing thing, but if it were up to me, I would prevent the thing from being created. Sure there is a lot of good that can be done with it, but the point of life is sort of "Wait and see".

I have always wondered what it would feel like to die.
Of course only temporarily though...

To temporarily feel your existence be obliterated nothing.

To become nothing.

To be nothing to everything.

EVERYTHING AND NOTHING.

How strange that indeed my pondering thought had become reality.

...........

It happened that day when I decided that I could no longer contain my curiosity of death. Unlike those who wish to unlock the secrets of life, I wanted to unlock the secrets of death.

No matter how hard I tired, death was like a lover I could never forget. So I gave in.

How glorious it felt when I stuck that beautiful antique silver fork in the electric socket. I was the bride, he the groom, and the fork was the priest who ordained us. I felt a spark instantly between me and Death as the fork allowed us to kiss.

Literally.

I felt my existence melt into nothing, like a piece of ice thrown futilely into magma in hopes of stopping it.

Oh the bliss.

I did want to experience life more. I would miss everyone. But my curiosity was too strong.

Then I awoke.

I had the fork in my hand, but it was as if it never happened. I knew it did though because the socket was charred.

Have I discovered I was Immortal?

I had to confirm my findings. I ran to the kitchen and grabbed the bread knife. (For your information a bread knife is never the way to go.)

The immense pain hit me and my conciseness ebbed slowly away.

What was i thinking? Not only was it serrated, it was blunt....
Damn my curiosity. Damn Pandora for opening the box.

Then I was awake once again. Indeed it seems as though as I cannot die.

...........

I think I will write a book now. I think I shalt call it, "The Guide to Various Deaths".

We die a little each day anyways don't we?

In response to Reynalds one, it's almost a great one there, but fatal flaw with wanting to clone money is that you are literally cloning the same bill which means it will have the same tracking numbers and all that extra stuff you see on the bottom of the bill and after a while people would start to notice that and could cause a mass investigation into who ever is creating tons of counterfeit bills, which they would be technically.

"Knock Knock". . . "Who's there?". . . "Joe". . . "Joe who?". . . "Joe Mama". . . .HAHAHAHA.

If I could create ANYTHING, I would create a person named "Joe Mama". I would create someone named "Joe Mama", because then, when I asked people who Joe is, I would have a real person to refer to, and my peers would no longer call me DUMB or say that was a STUPID joke. After I create "Joe Mama" many people will think he is an insignificant being, however I have many plans for him. I envision him to be somewhat of a comical being. He will open his own store to please all the needs of the people. The store will be called Joe’z, this store will have every possible item known to mankind. His slogan will be, “Come to Joe’z and spend Joe money.” Eventually, Joe will take over the world, and everything in the world will be called Joe. Joe will make life easier for all man kind, “Why is everyone named Joe?”, “So emperor Doofenshmirtz need not bother remembering names”. That was a short excerpt between Candace and Joe from the Disney show, Phineas and Ferb. In Phineas and Ferb, Danville is populated by a colony of people named Joe. Thus, a thriving society can be branched off of Joe. Therefore, if I could create anything, I would create someone named Joe Mama. Joe gives self confidence to aspiring comedians. Joe also wishes to please all the needs of the people. If Joe had one wish, he’d wish for WORLD PEACE. Joe for president (I joe’nt know which year).

An impossible technique or creation would be the ability to hear others thoughts. It would be a tiny machine that is inserted into one ear. It would send sound waves into my brain and let me hear who ever's mind I would want to hear in the room. By having this knowledge I could define my true friends from the one who actually lie in their heads. It would be a very useful invention.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be in your favorite television show or favorite video game? Well with my new creation one can do this and more. My creation is a box set up to your television or gaming system. From there you are only one click away, from having the time of your life. You click the button on the box and your body is suddenly transformed into a million tiny pixels. You are then sucked into the television and the possibilities are endless. I came up with this marvelous idea one day after I watched my favorite television show Tom and Jerry. The everlasting battle between the two characters would be a pleasure for me to watch. I promised myself that I would help Tom catch that little sneaky Jerry. The only flaw with my machine is that one can only be in the tv or gaming system for an thirty minutes; I still do not know why this is. Imagine fighting and killing the Russian Army in Modern Warfare 2; perhaps one of the coolest things ever. While this invention will not solve world hunger or peace, it will bring a revolutionary type of entertainment to everyone in the world.

- 4e your invention is pretty cool, but Rachael's response is completely legit. But it would be fun while it lasted.

-Though Max's idea seems to be promoting illicit street pharmacy medication, it would be very helpful to many. A lot of people deal with depression and Max's invention could help many.

Through my understanding of the book Frankenstein, Victor’s passions for his discoveries rule his life. If I had the power to create an impossible ability, the ability would involve the task of breathing underwater.
Through my research and studies, I specialized in types of fluids that balance oxygen pressure through your lugs. In order to have these fluids create the same affects of breathing, one has to suffer an initial pain of gaining them into the body system. I first created a tube that runs through the noise. As you turned pressure on, fluid from a container gets pushed into your lugs. On my first experiment, I had the issues dealing with the feeling of being drowned. Of course there were many trials and errors, so I eventually ran out of humans willing to risk their life. That was the day I gave my own self. As the fluid ran down, I blacked out. I thought I had died. To my knowledge, everything was black and cold. The next day appeared, and I had awoken. I found all the fluid to be gone out of the tubes, but nothing on the floor. I started grasping for air, as I could not breath. I ran to the sink and then realized, maybe my invention worked. I quickly filled the sink up and stuck my head underwater. I was scared to try and breath, but I sucked in water. Nothing happened, but I regained a relief. As I stayed beneath, I never had to move. With the fluids running through my lungs, it changed my chemical balance with the oxygen flow and pressure. As I left the water, I re entered the tubes and ejected the substance. I could breath once more. As I thought over my creation, I looked back on my childhood of always being in the water. The idea of not having to hold your breath and being one with the environment was amazing. I believe that this invention would expand the studies of a water environment. Now, I just need to have a testing within the salt-water world.

In response to Rachael’s similar creation, I like the idea of being able to communicate with all the surrounding ocean creatures. It would be so cool to have the ability to read any kind of animal’s mind. I also enjoyed Michael’s idea of being able to adventure into non-reality situations such as television and video games. It would give people an experience that may never be possible, but I also think that it would take away from real life, and if the game or show was better than ones own life, they might abandon there true self for the life of fiction.

I would create a small planet near earth in which I lived alone with the ability to allow select people to come join me and hang out at will. The planet would contain a perfect island, its unique atmosphere allowing half the island to be covered in snow with an amazing mountain for snowboarding as well as mountain biking and rock climbing, while the other half would contain the most beautiful beach and sand dunes for dirt biking and surfing. The planets unique moon would creat perfect and clean waves constantly in different sizes down the coast so I could simply walk a ways to enjoy surfing in any form I desired. That would be the greatest thing ever.

I would create a parallel universe where the living could actually reach out and communicate with people who have died that they miss. I would like to still be able to ask for my moms advice for example when she is gone. I came up with this idea because I have experienced losing important people in my life recently and I know it would help me heal emotionally.

Nathan...life is about learning to live with people even if you don't necessarily like them so I feel that you're idea of being able to control who comes and who doesn't may eliminate a fundamental principle that we are meant to learn in life. But your island most definitely would be the best of both worlds. If you ever find this planet you better invite me!

I would invent the ability to go back and experience parts of your life that are really special to you...essentially, I would create a time machine. You would be able to choose different moments from your past or time periods that you want to, and be with that person or people or whatever that means a lot to you, merely just to be able to feel those emotions or remember that one day. The only problem with this would be that people might abuse it and start to live solely in the past, and therefore lose important parts of the present. You would have to take a test that would prove your sanity to be able to have this ability and you could only use it a certain number of times based on your results. The good thing about this device would be that it was only a storage device of the past, and so your presence there would not affect anything in the present or future, and you would just get to be there as your past self and experience that time. I sometimes fantasize about being able to do this...I have lost so many friends and people that I care more about than anything else in the world and I wish somedays that I could just go back to that one second or minute or day way back when I was truly happy.

Roxy, I really like your idea. It kinda of goes hand in hand with mine. It would be really wonderful to be able to not have someone gone forever from your life. Death is such a scary concept and the idea of never knowing how much time you have with someone is one of my greatest fears so that would be lovely.

I would create a way to reshape the inner larynx muscles of the vocal cords at will. This would allow me to replicate any sound or voice that I hear. It would be like the ultimate form of impersonation. From being able to rap like Eminem, to being a dead ringer for Norah Jones, I would be about to sing or speak exactly like anyone that I hear. This ability would also work for accents and would help with the mastery of different languages. I find the ability to manipulate the voice extremely fascinating because with being able to the change the voice comes a fluidity of identity (and a really cool party trick).

Roxy: The ability to communicate with the dead would be completely amazing. To never have to truly lose loved ones would take much of the survival and anxiety out of life. However this calls into question the entire concept of death and weather it would be selfish to maintain our grip on the people who leave us (after all, we (the living) are the ones who seems to suffer the most in the wake of a death).

Nathan: Would the perfection of the planet become less and less perfect if there is nothing to fight against?
It does sound pretty amazing though!!

I would find a way to replicate fish lungs so humans would be able to breathe underwater. Further more I would change the texture and pressure limits of our skin so we could explore down to the bottom of the ocean. I think this would be amazing for two reasons:the underwater world is a place still vastly undiscovered by scientists, only finding things that float up the surface to give us hints of what lies below. Rumors or dinosaur bones and giant squids await us at the bottom of the ocean. Second, the idea of breathing underwater is, for lack of a better word, cool. I think that many people would find this a amazing improvement to our bodies for people who already love the water and those who have a fear of it. We all dream of being able to fly, but we constantly forget what waits for us below our feet. Perhaps its the fear of not knowing whats down there, but there is still so much to be learned from the ocean that I think the risk of danger is worth that of discovery.

I have to say that I am completely in love with Areil's idea of a time machine. I never thought of a time machine as a way to relive a moment, more of a way to relive the past. Roxy's idea of a way to reach the after life is pretty amazing. There seems to be an unlimited amount of questions we have for the deceased, and being able to contact them would not only be helpful in research, but as a way to communicate with loved ones.
